A SIMPLE and EFFECTIVE SPRING WINDER

You may already know how to wind springs, and/or may have learned a little about the topic from my Bedside Readers.

I was recently shown an incredibly simple, zero cost spring winder you can make in about 5 minutes with a pair of tinsnips.

You can use it to wind both compression and extension springs on your lathe or drill press.

Full details on how to make and use this spring winder will appear in The Machinist’s Fourth Bedside Reader (which is still some months away), but a lot of you seem to want the info on it right now.... so we made up a sheet about it.
